| This ceremony was filmed 2019 during Easter in a Catholic church: Hundreds of people are touching and kissing a statue of Christ, which for this reason is being cleaned again and again in an almost meditative way. 2020, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, all churches were closed during Easter. | After two months of social distancing and increased hygiene measurements, such a picture makes one think of old but also new rituals of cleansing. Where is the boundary now between the body of the community and the bodies of individuals? How will the call for social responsibility and the need for physical interaction be balanced? | |
